Slow Apocalypse
Let’s fall into each other, the light is fading fast
The days are few, so let us do each one like it’s the last
The stream will be a river, before the claws of dread
Grab my heart and make it smart with things I could have said
You never hear it coming, it’s faint enough to miss
So listen for the drumming of a slow apocalypse
Strolling through the suburbs, keep a weather eye
Bayonets and fighter jets will pierce the pregnant sky
Refrigerated houses, with all the curtains drawn
Tumbleweeds are gaining speed on picture perfect lawns
The meteor showers will go on for hours before we even notice
In the blinding light, you better hold tight whoever’s closest
The other side of panic is just a breath away
We’re out of time to pantomime the things we oughta say
